Beam Me Up Bonnie!

With Bonnie Tyler being the U.K. singer for Malmö it's a good moment to take a look at this one, where things boldly go in ways unexpected.
Lin Yu Chun from Taiwan duets with the one and only William Shatner, Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. The clip is from the Lopez Tonight show, a U.S. late night show hosted by George Lopez (TBS).

Total Eclipse Of The Heart written by is a classic and Bonnie's biggest hit to date.
The song is written by Jim Steinman, the man who made Meatloaf the 80's staple diet and who gave Celine Dion It's All Coming Back To Me Now.

I love Startrek and William performing as a "singer" is one of those Space Oddities that make the universe such an exiting place to be part of.

Lin Yu Chun (林育羣) is no stranger to Eurocovers. The Taiwanese One Million Stars talent show sensation recorded a coverversion of the U.K. 2009 entry It's My Time (Jade Ewen).
More about that one here at Eurocovers.

Bonnie Tyler will represent the United Kingdom with Believe In Me from her new album Rocks And Honey.
Bits about Bonnie 2013 here at the Malmö Collection

Some more interesting Eclipses: One Direction, Josh Groban and Ellen Degeneres, Lucy Lawless (Xena) with Bonnie Tyler, 2000 Eurovision star Nicki French and even Metallica.

David Sancho - Estando Contigo!!

Nice to see the old classics aren't forgotten.
Here's Spain's very first entry Estando Contigo (Conchita Bautista) in a new version by David Sancho. It is taken from the album Sancho and Swing from 2011.

Sancho first performed Estando Contigo in the Spanish casting pre-selection thingy to find the 2011 Eurovision artist, but he was axed at an early stage.

The Road To Malmö - The Bandaloop - Waterloo

The Bandaloop are in the race to become Austria's next Eurovision stars. Their song Back To Fantasy is one of the five songs competing in the Austrian National Final on Februari 15.
And Eurocovers is pleased to inform you all that the band have recorded ABBA's Waterloo after a 'meeting' with the Legendary Swedish band and made it available for you here, Yay! (more people should do that).
Credits: photo (c) Norbert Ivanek, wax figures (c) Madame Tussauds Wien

"Waterloo" is an exclusive gift for all the fans of The Bandaloop and is available until the 28th of February as free download here:
Download "Waterloo"  Hope you didn't miss it.

"Back To Fantasy" can be downloaded on iTunes:
"Back To Fantasy" on iTunes

The Bandaloop website, Also check out the Austria page at the Malmö Collection.

from their press message:
"Since this year's ESC finals will take place in Malmo, Sweden, the members of The Bandaloop - Barca Baxant, Justin Case and Mike Blitz - tried to gain some inspiration from the legendary Swedish band ABBA. Fortunately, they could easily "get in touch" with the most popular Swedish band in Vienna - for they are currently part of the exhibition at Madame Tussauds Wien, as a wax figure".

"ABBA used to give me a lot of inspiration when I was young. I was a huge fan of them!" so Barca Baxant, singer of The Bandaloop. Being able to represent Austria at the ESC, just like ABBA for Sweden did, is her greatest ambition for this Friday: "in 2013, we would like to reach what ABBA with 'Waterloo' did in 1974: the European crown of pop music!" Justin Case, bassist of The Bandaloop and king of the keyboards, loopers and all other electronic instruments in this project, spent the last few days working on their extraordinary cover version of the ABBA-hit: "with 'Waterloo', ABBA made Song Contest history at that time. On the one hand, it was an honour to work on our own interpretation of this song, and on the other hand, it was of course huge fun as well!" Finally, as Mike Blitz, drummer of The Bandaloop adds: "once we have performed our own version of 'Waterloo' this Friday and done our best at it, we hope to gain the sympathy of the audience. The song fits our style perfectly: electronic music with a touch of pop from the '70s and '80s, glowing in a new, fancy light!"

Special thanks to Marco

女 Yan Kee - Puppet On A String

Bought A 4th Chinese version of 1967 Eurovision winner Puppet On A String by Sandie Shaw.
I'm a bit clueless here.  The girl is called Rose (something) (玫瑰 = Rose) and the song seems to be titled 女 Yan Kee (Nu Yan Kee). I haven't been able to find any info on the net searching by record label and all that and off course I'm rubbish at Chinese characters. And is it Mandarin, Cantonese or another Chinese language?.
Po-Lo records MEP 3070. Please E-mail me for  or if you can help.

Zoller Zsolt - Szerelem miért múlsz

Here's a Hungarian bloke in his basement recording a coverversion of Szerelem Miért Múlsz (What about my dreams), in a Mike 'I play all the instruments myself' Oldfield way.
The track is a rock version of Kati Wolfs Eurovision entry in 2011.
The clip just struck me for its passion and professionality (and the loud shirt) and is well worth checking out.

It's Anita Skorgan Day!

Sadly it's not a new national holiday for the the Norwegians (although it should be). Norwegian TV2 has started their second season of Hver gang vi møtes (Every time we meet), a TV series where seven artists sing each others songs.
The first week of season 2 starts with Anita Skorgan Day and it is filled with Eurovision goodies.
Anita Skorgan entered the contest three times as a singer plus twice as songwriter. Her three Eurovision songs are featured in this episode.
Digital release artwork
The songs from this episode have been released through iTunes and other sources, it features all studio recordings. A CD will be released on februari 4 on EMI Norway. This will include 25 tracks from seven episodes, so I don't know yet which tracks from the Anita Skorgans Dag EP will be on it.
Update: The CD Hver Gang Vi Møtes, Sesong 2 has been released. It includes three tracks from Anita Skorgans day (marked * below).

The following tracks are on the digital EP, not sure if it's sold outside Norway yet.

Marion Ravn - Casanova*
- Casanova was Anita Skorgans first Eurovision entry (1977). It ended only 15th but was a #4 hit in Norway. Marion was a member of duo M2M who scored an international hit in 1999 with Don't Say You Love Me, a theme song from the first Pokemon movie.

Magnus Grønneberg - Hvor Er Du Nå
Hvor Er Du Nå is a Skorgan song from 1981 originally released on the album Pastell.
Grønneberg is known as the lead singer of CC Cowboys (no, me neither....) and has released two solo albums in the early 00's.

Ole Paus - For Vår Jord*
For Vår Jord, Norways 1988 entry was performed by Karoline Krüger and ended 5th in the contest. The song is written by Anita Skorgan who recorded a version of the song herself in 2009 for her compilation album Hele Veien - 47 Utvalgte Sanger. Anita also featured as a backing vocalist for Krüger at the contest.
Ole Paus is a celebrated singer-songwriter who has released 30 albums since 1970.

Lene Marlin - Is It True
- Is It True was originally released in 2008 on Anita Skorgans Christmas album Julenatt. Lene Marlin is best known for her hit Sitting Down Here.
-

Kurt Nilsen - Adieu*
- Adieu from 1982 was a duet with legendary Norwegian Eurovision star Jahn Teigen. It ended 12th in 1982 and became a #3 hit (and a classic).
Kurt Nilsen, remember him? He was the winner of the one-off world wide talent show World Idol, where eleven local Idols winners battled it out for this prestigious title that (rightfully) never was to be repeated again.
He scored an international hit with She’s So High and made a nice living for himself in Norway scoring several #1 hits and five very successful albums.
At the time of writing Nilsens Adieu is #1 in the iTunes charts.
A new album Inni En God Periode will be released this week, (but Adieu is not on the tracklist)

Morten Abel - Oliver
- Oliver, Anita’s second effort in 1979 did a bit better than her first: 11th place. And a #6 hit. Morten Abel is a succesful singer in Norway where he scored six top 10 albums (incl 3 #1's)

Anita Skorgans Hele Veien compilation album is available at BeaRecords. All songs mentioned above are included on the 2CD in their original versions, except For Vår Jord, which is a re-recording by Anita Skorgan.
Hver gang vi møtes is the Norwegian version of De beste zangers van Nederland (The best singers of...) a Dutch concept which also runs in Sweden, Finland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Spain.

Everyone's A Star - Lola Dutronic

Lola Dutronic are producer/keyboard/knobtwiddler Richard Citroen and vocalist Stephanie B. operating from Canada and Germany. I hadn't heard of them, but they've been making sweet musique since 2004 (well, Citroen has).
They have released a few albums and EPs and their latest offering is Everyone's A Star (out on Red Star).
Eurocovers loves all this sensuous retro frenchy stuff and so will you. If you like bands like St. Etienne, Peach, Pizzicato Five and your basic French whispering godesses, Lola Dutronic is defenitely worth a listen.
I'm pleased to find a 2012 version of our beloved 1967 classic Love Is Blue / L'amour Est Bleu.

You can listen to the whole album at Lola Dutronics bandcamp where you can also find details on how to order the CD or digital release. (If you order the CD you'll get the download version straight away). LD also have a facebook and a Youtube channel.

Love Is Blue, originally L'Amour Est Bleu by Vicky (4th in 1967 contest) is written by André Popp and Pierre Cour.
It is the second most covered Eurovision song of all times.

2015 update
Lola Dutronic have released a radio remix of their Love Is Blue. Check it out and buy it here at LD's Bandcamp

Find out more about it in the 10000 coverversions post and in these Eurocovers items.

Please note there are no downloads available through Eurocovers.
Find us at Facebook

P.S. I was horrified to be even enjoying a Dire Straits song (S.O.S. on Everyone's A Star). (But it's not all coverversions, many tracks are written by the band themselves)

Juan Carlos Calderón 1938 - 2012

Spanish musician and songwriter Juan Carlos Calderón has passed away yesterday.
Eurovision fans know him for writing four wonderful entries for Spain, and one of those is an evergreen he will always be remembered for by everyone: Eres Tú.

Eres Tú was performed by Mocedades in the 1973 contest and ended second. It became one of the biggest Eurovision hits of all time. Mocedades (even) took it to the US top 10 as Eres Tu / Touch The Wind and many artists covered the song over the years. A few names are Bing Crosby, Eydie Gormé, Tish Hinojosa, The Kelly Family, Perry Como, Petula Clark, The Shirelles, Rika Zaraï, Byron Lee and Acker Bilk.
Below is a wonderful video of Johnny Mathis singing Eres Tú with Calderón at the piano.

---------------

The 1989 entry Nacida Para Amar is also known as Amante Del Amor, a version with different lyrics which has been recorded by several Latin American singers most notably Luis Miguel.

Calderóns Eurovision entries:
1973 - Eres Tú - Mocedades (2nd place)
1975 - Tú Volverás - Sergio Y Estibaliz (10th)
1985 - La Fiesta Terminó - Paloma San Basilio (14th)
1989 - Nacida Para Amar - Nina (6th)

More about Eres Tú, #8 in the top 10 most covered Eurovision songs in this Eurocovers post.

Smurphoria!

Just a bit of news from the Little Blue Men With White Pointy Hats:
The German Smurfs (Schlümpfe) have been shaking their tiny booty's to Euphoria just as we all did. Their version of Loreens Eurovision winner is titled Ein Schlümpfentag (A Smurf day) and it can be found on their new German market CD Die Hits Der Schlümpfe Vol. 2 out now. (Universal 0602537225903)

As we all know The Smurfs are cunning multilinguists. The critters also released a new album in Dutch and that also includes a version of Euphoria. This time it's titled Mooi Smurfenland (Beautiful Smurf country).
The seasonal album Winterpret Met De Smurfen (Winterfun with the Smurfs) is released on November 30 and also includes covers of Gangnam Style, Call Me Maybe, Little Talks and some other 2012 hits. And it has Last Christmas too (EMI 5099997954828).
And as a bit of coincidental trivia, Euphoria singer Loreen provides the voice of Smurfette (Smurfan in Swedish) in the 2011 Smurfbuster movie The Smurfs (Smurfarna). I don't know if Loreen is on the books for the new film The Smurfs 2, expected in July 2013.

I don't know if any other regional Smurfs have recorded 2012 Eurovision songs. The French guys (Les Schtroumpfs) just have a new album out but just as the French grown up disque buying publique they have ignored Euphoria.

If you want to find out about the 2011 Smurftastic coverversions (Popular, Haba Haba) in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian check out this Eurocovers post.
For older Smurfocovers, here's another post for you.

Please note, the Eurocovers posts don't include any audio material / downloads.

It's a small world after all.

Some of us are old enough to remember 1976.
Austria's Eurovision entry My Little World by Waterloo and Robinson (Hans Kreuzmayr and Sepp Krassnitzer) finished a respectable 5th in the The Hague Eurovision Song Contest, won by the mighty Brotherhood Of Man.
Prior to their Eurovision result, Waterloo and Robinson already scored a few hits with Baby Blue and Hollywood, the latter reportedly even being a #1 in Brasil.

Waterloo and / or Robinson have re-recorded their Austrian #1 hitMy Little World several times, but since both their solo re-recordings from 2008 it has been a few years, so it's time for a new one.
(see below)

Das Comebackalbum
To cut a short story even shorter Schlagerfans, Das Comebackalbum is titled Baby Blue and is by Berger, Maier and Waterloo. So Waterloo = Waterloo (leatherfaceon the left), Berger = Ricky Berger and I guess Maier = Christian Maier, producer (but he's not in the picture, and neither is Robinson, who's probably occupied elsewhere).

The Baby Blue album will be released on November 23 and it will include new versions of W and R hits including Baby Blue, Hollywood and My Little World. It will also include a coverversion of the U.K. 1972 entry Beg Steal or Borrow (New Seekers) and  favorite Clout song Substitute (although the Righteous Bro's recorded it first, I know).
Excerpts are already up up up at Amazon.de.
BMW (oh....) have their Facebook.

Here's the list of recordings of My Little World by at least one of the original singers, maybe there are more, just let me know.

Flemish Schlager
And some more release news from the cheesy variety. Laat Me Nu Gaan (Let me go now or rather Just let me go) is a single by Belgian Schlager singer Jo Vally. It's a coverversion of Non Ho L'Eta (Per Amarti), the 1964 Eurovision winner by Gigliola Cinquetti for Italy.
Don't know if there's a cdsingle, but the track is available at iTunes Belgium and possibly other sources.

Tanya V - Euphoria in Afrikaans

Here's the new video of the Afrikaans coverversion of Loreens 2012 Eurovision winner Euphoria.
The Afrikaans lyrics are written by Chrissie Rossouw.

Mia - Eufooria
Estonian singer Mia recorded a version in her own language. It uses the original backingtrack so it's not an official release. But it's fun and can listen to it here and there you'll also find a download link (for a wave file).

You may know Mia from her 2012 Eurolaul entry Bon Voyage.

Angelina I Els Moderns - Canto I Vull Viure

Here's a bit of Catalonian Retro fun for all to be enjoyed.
Angelina and her Modern Boys do not only have the looks, but also have the tunes to go with it.
On their eponymous 2009 album they treat us to Nina De Cera, a Catalan version of Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son (Luxembourgs 1965 winner by France Gall). You can listen to the full album here at their website.

GRAN RESERVA
Also on their website is a section called Gran Reserva in which they present some unreleased songs and you can even download them. One of the songs is Canto I Vull Viure, which is their take on the Catalan version of the 1969 Spanish Eurovision (co)winner Vivo Cantando originally by Salomé.
You can download that one here at the Gran Reserva download page (just rightclick on the title and save).

Euphoria - Tyler Ward & Alex G

Tyler Ward and Alex G. do Loreens Euphoria, The Eurovision hit that still populates the top 10s in the European charts after three months (a record for a Eurovision hit)
The Ward/G. track is out through iTunes on Tyler Wards album The Hollywood Sessions EP which also includes other coverversions like thàt other song that just won't go away: Somebody That I Used To Know.
Euphoria was already available as a single at iTunes since May.

I like the way they fooled around with the song in a minimal electronic pop-style but I haven't decided yet if Ward is just gorgeous or a bit slappable.
American singer/songwriter Tyler Ward has been opening for stars like Gavin de Graw and one of the Jonasses, but in autumn he'll be touring the world on his own. 21 dates in Europe in October including Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and of course Loreenland. Check out the dates here at his website.
A full album is expected later this year.
Alex G. has also been recording many coverversions (iTunes) but a release with her own work is expected in September.

If you want to find out more about Loreen's Euphoria, the remixes, constantly updated chart domination and other very important trivia, please check this page at the Baku Collection.
You'll also find the details on some other coverversions, from the amazing to the appalling.

The Voice Of Irish Hip Hop

The Voice, Irelands 7th Eurovision winner by Eimear Quinn (1996) is one of the least covered Eurovision winners but here's a makeover that makes up for that.

Irish hip hop persons Terawrizt have recorded a track titled The Voice which is basically a rap track with a bit of the The Voice refrain as a returning motif.
It's Hip Hop so Featurings are obligatory and this one is featuring Redzer, Nugget and Medz.
The beats are by Londons beatsmith Tony Mahoney.

I like it a lot although one of the rappers slightly reminds me a bit of Dustin the Turkey.

The track is released on the Reign Of Tera EP which is released through iTunes but you can also get it for free (at the time of writing) at Class A.'s music store. where you can also just give the track a listen.

Special thanks to Roy D. Hacksaw

All eyes on Baku: Eurovision 2012

Tonight is the night. The 57th Eurovision final starts at, 24.00 local Baku time. 21.00 CET.
My country didn't make it to the final for the 8th time in a row, which must be some sort of record.
We're used to it, sad, but we'll be having big fun anyway.

Update: It's done, What's Another Year and all that. I'll leave most of the pre-contest text here, with the additions from the day after below

Eurocovers favorites Bulgaria, Finland and the Trackshittaz from Austria were killed of in the semi's, eternal shame on Europe for that.
Eurocovers loves Euphoria, The Sound Of Our Hearts and Love Is Blind very much, but good luck to everyone of course.

And final break a leg to wonderful legend Engelbert Humperdinck who has the ghastly task to open the contest, but can take a nap during the other performances.

The Baku Weeks, part 1 and only

Since Eurovision 2007 Eurocovers readers are used to the So And So weeks highlighting the Eurovision history of the organizing country through coverversions of their greatest hits and by their popular singers.

No such luck this year, as Azerbaijans Eurovision History is short and I haven't found any Azerbaijani Eurocovers artists except the one that was already featured in 2008 Muslim Magomaev (1942-2008), when Azerbaijan entered the Eurovision family.

Below is a re-hash of that 2008 article with a few alterations.

Also check out

The Belgrade Weeks
The Moscow Weeks
The Oslo Weeks
The Düsseldorf Weeks - German Classics
The Baku Collection, all about the cds, versions, charts of Eurovision 2012.
All about the releases of Azerbaijans first 4 entries in a Baku Collection special

If you know any Eurocovers from Azerbaijan (excluding live clips and youtube amateurs) please let me know.

Here's the 2008 article about Azerbaijani/Soviet singer Muslim Magomaev, the only Azerbaijani artist I know that has recorded Eurovision songs.

2008: welcomes Azerbaijan to the Eurovision stage.

The list of countries for Eurovision 2008 counts 43 and there's again two newcomers on the Eurovision stage. San Marino and Azerbaijan. Austria opts out for 2008.
Eurocovers of course tries to find any excuse to present some songs here but so far I haven't been able to find any version sung in Azerbaijani (or Azeri-Turkish, check your wiki's).
If anyone knows any, just let me know….

But this is close, Muslim Magomaev (Müslüm Maqomayev, Муслим Магомаев, 1942-2008) is a classical singer (baritone) who was born in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, in 1942, USSR times.
He shares his name with his grandfather, legendary composer Muslim Magomaev (1885 - 1937), who was a pioneer of Azerbaijani music. His father was a painter and war hero, his mother an actress. Magomaev Jr. started as a classical singer but after a performance in Italy he also turned to popular music. Since he has recorded Italian and Russian versions of many Italian songs including several San Remo entries and (other) songs by Domenico Modugno. Later he was dubbed the Soviet Sinatra.

In 1966 and 1969 Muslim Magomaev performed in Paris Olympia with great success. The director of Olympia Bruno Coquatrix offered him a contract, and Muslim Magomaev was seriously considering an opportunity to pursue international career, but he didn't get the Ministry of Culture's permission, who claimed that it needed Muslim Magomaev to perform at governmental concerts. In 1969 he received MIDEM Gold Disc Award in Cannes for the album sales of over 4,5 million units. In 1973, at the very young age of 31, Muslim was awarded the Soviet Union's highest artistic title: People's Artist of the USSR. Muslim Magomaev is also known as a composer of songs, film soundtracks and music for theater performances. In addition, Magomaev played in films and acted as a host in television and radio broadcasts.

Muslim Magomaev has been living and working in Moscow since the early 1970s. In 1997, in recognition of Magomaev's professional successes, a Russian astronomical society named two planetoids of the solar system in honor of him and his wife, Tamara Sinyavskaya, a prominent Russian opera singer who was also awarded People's Artist of the USSR and worked as a soloist at the Bolshoi Theater. (source: Magomaev Website)
At his website (in English and Russian) you can read more and listen to a large selection of his songs: classical music, songs by Azerbaijani composers, western popular songs, film themes and many self composed works.

ADDED Muslim Magomaev, died on October 25, 2008 at the age of 66, nine months after the original article was compiled.

Magomaev Eurocovers.
So far I have found two Eurocovers by Muslim Magomaev. Both are entries from 1965, the year of his visit to Milan, Italy.

Se Piangi, Se Ridi (Italian)
- Italy 1965, originally by Bobby Solo
Voskovaya Kukla (Восковая кукла, Russian)
- Luxembourg 1965, France Galls Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son.

I don't have any details on the release of Se Piangi Se Ridi, but Poupée…. was issued on a Melodija 4 track EP (33ГД-0001045-2, picture) and a compilation LP of the same year, Vsem kto lyubit pesnyu (No3)  / Всем, Кто Любит, Песню (№ 3)

The third song featured is Non Pensare A Me, the 1967 SanRemo winner that was replaced at the rehearsing stages of the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.*

♫ Poupée - Se Piangi - Non Pensare

* Non Pensare A Me was the 1967 San Remo winner by both Iva Zanicchi and Claudio Villa. Villa was supposed to sing it as the Italian Eurovision entry but the song had to be replaced just days before the contest because it broke the release rules (i.e. it was released to early). Instead, Claudia Villa represented Italy with Non Andare Piu Lontano, but Non Pensare A Me was the hit (mainly for Zannichi) and is covered by most artists that were in the business of covering popular Italian songs (Connie Francis, Andre Hazes, Yukari Ito, Agnaldo Timoteo, José Guardiola).
Of Non Andare Piu Lontano I only ever found one coverversion (by Los Catinos)

Goodbye Donna Summer

I am very sad to hear that Donna Summer died. I know it's completely not Eurocovers related, but Donna Summer helped me survive through those horribly difficult teen years (probably second to ABBA only).
And she gave us the most utterly important timeless amazing dance record of all times, I Feel Love. Above is my own old tatty single sleeve, when it was actually a b-side first.
I guess the only thing left to say is the old cliché, Donna Summer, you'll be missed, but your music lives on forever.

What's your Donna Summer top 5?
1 - I Feel Love
2 - Rumour Has It
3 - On The Radio
4 - The Hostage
5 - I Remember Yesterday

Quédate Conmigo, Euphoria and When The Music Dies covers

Here is a coverversion of this years Spanish Eurovision Song Quédate Conmigo which will be performed in the Eurovision final on May 26 by Pastora Soler.
I don't know who is behind this (please tell me), but it is wonderful. Singers from all over the world (well, mostly Eurovision world) cover the classic Eurovision ballad and it is very well put together.
I've spotted a few pre-selection singers (ooh, Rui Andrade) and Eurocovers favourite Lianie May from South Africa.

Update: I just read at Eurovicio, who already posted it a week ago, that the idea from this clip is from Antonio (Tony) Sanchez, one of the composers of the song. It's a tribute to Pastora in support of her Eurovision adventure. You can also find the full list of participating singers at the Eurovicio link.
So: Thank you Eurovicio!

You can find out everything about Pastora Solers own version and releases here at The Baku Collection, the place for all info on the releases of the Baku 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

Euphoria!
And while we're in the business of 2012 covers, an acoustic coverversion of Swedish entry Euphoria well worth checking out is released by Gavin Mikhail.
Gavin Mikhail recorded his acoustic version of Euphoria for a digital release with five acoustic versions of current hits (+ five instrumental versions).
Mikhail's coverversions are a bit of an internet phenomenon and his version of the Swedish entry shows us why. I think MF 2013 may have their intervalact sorted with our Gav'.
Listen to Gavins Euphoria here or buy here at itunes or amazon.

Euphoria will be performed in the second semi-final on May 24 by Loreen. (and hopefully also in the final). Find out everything about Loreen, Euphoria, chart success, remixes and Melodifestivalen 2012 here at the Baku Collection.

Wənneer Die Musiek Verdwijn
A third coverversion worth checking out is Wanneer Die Musiek Verdwyn (When the music disappears) by Colé Van Dais.
It's an Afrikaans version of When The Music Dies, Azerbaijans home entry by Sabina Babayeva (Səbinə Babayeva).
You can listen to Colé version through her Reverbnation and it's also for sale at RhythmMusic store (South Africa).

Colé Van Dais has recorded several Eurovision coverversions recently for her album Dink Aan My (Think of me). For example titletrack is a cover of Haegt Og Hljott, the 1987 Icelandic entry by Halla Margret.
She also recorded a duet version of Georgia's Peace Will Come (Diana Gurtskaya 2008) with Marc Rantseli. This one is sung in Afrikaans, Spanish, English and Zulu.
Afrikaanse Meissies (African girls or probably Afrikaans girls) is The Balkan Girls (Romania's Elena Gheorge, 2008) and Die Eiland (The island) is 1987 Cyprus entry Aspro Mavro by Alexia.
Listen to some of the tracks here at Reverbnation

Of course you can find out everything about the original entry by Sabina Babayeva at the Baku Collection. There are details about the remixes, the Azerbaijani version Gəl and more at this page.
